Bonding Through Exercises for Couples
If you are looking for a great way to grow closer to your better half, try some exercises for couples. Working out together is a wonderful way to bond. It’s a way to spend time together, improve your health and strengthen your relationship.
The first thing both of you must do is set goals. Make sure your goals are reasonable and then work together to achieve them. Give each other a pat on the back when progress is made. If you see your partner having difficulties, find ways to make changes so the goals get accomplished. Men tend to see results faster than women do. Ladies, don’t get discouraged. Just keep your head held high and eyes on the goal.
Before you begin your workouts, stretch to warm up. Get close while doing this. Make your exercise time a little more intimate than usual. You’re not working out with a stranger, so make this time personal.
There are a few other things to take into consideration before beginning exercises for couples. First, check with your doctor to make sure your bodies are able to withstand the physical stresses exercise can sometimes bring. Secondly, you may want to talk with a dietitian if either of you plan on altering your heating habits. Some foods may benefit your partner more so than they would you. This could be beneficial especially if your fitness goals are different. Finally, go out and purchase a journal. Log things such as your daily eating habits (calorie intake), fitness goals, progress, or lack thereof, and water consumption.
In order to make this bonding experience beneficial for both of you, remember that your workout routines should be kept fun. Don’t be afraid to change it up a bit. Make the exercises for couples you do interesting and enjoy each other’s company.
Exercises for Couples:
-
Walking or jogging. Get outside and find a pace that works for the both of you. If the weather is nasty outside, head to the gym and get on treadmills next to each other. Set some goals and have some healthy competition.
-
Bicycling. Find a scenic bike trail in your town or just ride around together through the neighborhood. This is an exercise that can be very relaxing. Take your time and enjoy the ride.
-
Dance lessons. Join a local dance class and get your groove on together. Many dances provide a fantastic cardio workout (especially the Tango). Find something you both like and waltz, swing or two-step your way to better health.
-
Swimming. Go for a dip in the pool in your backyard or at the local YMCA. Race each other on your laps or enjoy a leisurely, synchronized swim.
-
Kickboxing. This is an awesome form of exercise and a great way to relieve any unwanted stress from daily life. There is nothing wrong with healthy competition, as long as it stays healthy. Have fun and knock each other’s socks off with the great results you’ll get!
-
Rollerblading. This is a fun alternative to walking, jogging or biking. If you don’t own a pair, many places allow you to rent them. Be sure to scout out challenging trails so you get an intense workout.
Always keep in mind that this is your partner in life. You are supposed to be there to support each other and act as guides when needed, especially when doing exercises for couples. Be supportive and encouraging. Find solutions that will benefit the both of you. Stay positive and enjoy each other. Remember, those that sweat together, stay together!
